Post Graduate Diploma In Geriatric Medicine

Post Graduate Diploma In Geriatric Medicine

The world is getting older! This brings unique medical challenges which need age specific interventions. The Post Graduate Diploma Geriatric Medicine will provide physicians with a comprehensive appreciation for healthy ageing options, geriatric (clinical) syndromes, frailty and palliative care, the epidemiological, demographic and social factors that affect older adults.

The Post Graduate Diploma in Geriatric Medicine aims to provide post graduate training to medical doctors in the provision of specialized care to older adults. The diploma is designed to increase clinical knowledge and competencies in geriatrics among practicing medical practitioners.

Enrollees will participate in a variety of clinical experiences, including outpatient geriatric assessments, home, long-term and palliative care, where the tenets of prevention and healthy ageing will be emphasized. These experiences will be designed to provide candidates with the opportunity to make practical applications to concepts taught. Additionally, programme participants will also have the opportunity to learn about synergistic disciplines and services that involve the care of the elderly including psychiatry, neurology and palliative care.
