The world is getting older! This brings both challenges and opportunities! The ageing of populations globally is increasing the need for health and social services workers with specialized training and expertise in Gerontology.
The Master of Public Health-Gerontology will allow health and other professionals to acquire training in public health and gerontology, to understand age-related issues and have the competence to respond to the health and social needs of older persons.
The Post Graduate Diploma in Gerontology targets persons actively engaged in ageing-related services and who hold a Bachelor’s or equivalent degree.
A Bachelor's qualification in public health, nursing, sociology, social work, physiotherapy or other allied health areas.

At the end of the training, participants in the Post Graduate Diploma in Gerontology will:
1: Develop a critical appreciation of the key theoretical perspectives within gerontology and their application in the analysis of specific issues related to ageing and well-being of older persons
2: Understand the determinants of demographic transition and the consequences of population ageing
3: Critically assess health and social policies and programmes which impact the lives of older persons, their families and communities
4: Interpret ageing research outputs and apply the evidence to ageing– related issues.
5: Understand the principles and practice of working with older persons, their families and communities.
